    Default outher space railgun SW

okey so first congrats killa nice prize indeed but back on topic yesterday i was talking 2 redeemer about te fact that railguns did actually exist so i came up with a huge railgun firing out of space 2 a designated target. So here's my question is it possible to : A: make a Sw track a target OR B: make a sw that suck units 2 a point and then annihilates the crap out of then with a shot from outerspace?

owh and read this this is quite funny  :

Now, I'm sure that you all have played Metal Gear Solid. This is where this question stems from.

Would a rail gun be a practical way for a nuke to be launched and delivered to a target?

(I want this topic in Think Tank so we can have some really thought provolking discussion)

After reading about the results of a US army testing a tractor-trailor sized railgun built by college students in New mexico, I'd say that the nuke would be overkill. In that test, a .5in by 2in metal slug that was accelerated to hypersonic speeds went straight through an Abrams tank, crushing it like a tin can and pushing it back about 100 ft, and sucking the sheep "crew" through the exit hole, leaving a blood smear about 100 yds long. They found the bullet embedded 20ft inside a cliff 8 miles away. If you were to apply this principle to a bullet 5in in diameter and weighing 120 lbs, you'd create a crater about 50 yds wide and several hundred ft deep.
    ** ouch **

As far as I know, the smallest warking rail gun has to be held on a battleship

Also, the dedlyness of a rail gun depends on 4 things:
    shape of projectile
    weght of projectile
    length of rails
    voltige used

As a note, Rail weapns have two other names Gauss and Electromagnetic (EM). They're all the same thing.

Basically they are tesla technology, the projectile is accelerated by atleast two tesla coils, you can see in the above link in this case its 5 per barrel.
